RIOS deployed first-of-its-kind robotic workcells in which multiple robots are able to collaborate with each together to perform multiple complex tasks in concert like both pan loading and tray management.
THE CHALLENGE
Founded in 1969, Ramar foods is the largest Filipino food producer in California and is committed to nourishing their community through its legacy of family food products.
Ramar Foods business has been skyrocketing during Covid, with customers consuming way more. This increased demand let Ramar to massively expand its facility in Pittsburgh, CA. With business booming while facing labor challenges in today’s highly competitive market and increased pricing pressures, Ramar chose RIOS as their key strategic partner to rapidly bring a scalable robotic workforce to its factory to address customer demand and upskill its workers.
THE SOLUTION
RIOS initially deployed its DION robotic fleet to handle its siomai and siapao (steam dumpling and buns) food product lines. RIOS subsequently rolled out its LUMOS fleet to take care of quality control of its lumpia (egg roll) production line. Deployment was phased to meet the physical needs of the Ramar Foods facility. The production team at Ramar reallocated floorspace and built walls around the RIOS workcell deployment to fit into their cold room production lines.
RIOS deployed first-of-its-kind robotic workcells in which multiple robots are able to collaborate with each together to perform multiple complex tasks in concert like both pan loading and tray management. The compact robotic workcells maximized footprint and expensive real estate in the cold room environment, while delivering value to the customer. The success of these initial deployments has spurred Ramar to work with RIOS to deploy a new batch of dozens of robotic workcells.
